Learning to See Fish (2008)

From the story: Magic

"The words they yell are so heavy and full of fury that they push through the bedroom curtains and spill out the open casement windows. The words cascade down the white clapboard walls of the house to the ground where they spread like an oil slick over the grass, finding Mark and me playing at cowboys and Indians; they cover us with an invisible layer that no amount of washing ever removes."
